Programme
Dance Master Class in conjunction with Scuola-Italia offer a professionally staffed comprehensive dance curriculum which is uniquely coupled with intensive Italian or English language classes.
We present the Dance Experience Italian summer programme which will be held in Urbania, Italy and runs from August 3rd 2008 to August 14th 2008.
The course is designed to give dancers an opportunity to grow technically and artistically in a professional atmosphere and allow them to develop, or advance a working knowledge of modern Italian or English in the sumptuous surroundings of the Italian countryside. This valuable summer programme is available to dancers and dance students of Intermediate through to Advanced levels from all over the world.
Alongside technique classes in contemporary, ballet and jazz, dancers will be coached in related disciplines including pointe, repertoire, variations, virtuosity and also participate in the choreographic workshops. These workshops will provide the dancers with a valuable insight into the challenges of the choreographic process and will call upon each dancer’s unique input. Direct involvement in the creative process and personal interaction with our dedicated staff will encourage personal growth in both technical and artistic areas. Please note that pointe-work is not a necessary requirement for the choreographies and is not a prerequisite on this programme.
Our course culminates with live participation in a performance at the beautiful Teatro Bramante.
Due to recently received funding we are now in a position to reduce the costs of our courses. Rather than offering scholarships to a select few we have decided all should be able to benefit.
There are several course options which we hope will suit the individual talents of each applicant and provide for each the choice of programme they would most enjoy. Our package courses include accommodation and airport pick-up.
Each of these options may be taken with or without a language course.
1. Complete/Comprehensive course: This option comprises of all dance type classes available.
2. Two dance disciplines combination: A choice of two dance styles from jazz, ballet and contemporary. Please note that Pointe can not be taken unless ballet is one of your chosen disciplines.
3. Single dance discipline: Technique class in one dance style plus choreographic workshop/rehearsals in that dance type and participation in the performance.
4. NEW Jazz and Hip/Hop Special: Slick, stylish and not to be missed, this course will introduce you to distinctive choreography and help you build a range of moves into a great routines or audition pieces. Please note the Jazz Hip/Hop Special is open to all levels.
The current situation concerning the lack language learning facilities in schools, has prompted us this year to opening the course to dancers from the age of 14 through to adult so providing the opportunity for firsthand language and cultural exchange as part of the daily experience.
We recommend that all candidates under the age of 16 be chaperoned by a parent, guardian or adult travel companion who will be responsible for the welfare of the candidate during their trip. However by request supervision may be arranged for their stay in Urbania.
May we suggest a family and friends study holiday? As well as language, Scuola-Italia offers various courses in culture and gastronomy.
Please join us for an unforgettable experience where Italian, English and the Universal Language of Dance come together in a friendly atmosphere for a rewarding cross-cultural experience in the heart of the Italian countryside, replete with all the historic richness and beauty of Italian culture.
For further information, the application and accommodation request forms are to be found in our free information pack.
Please note that very recent updates and minor alterations on the website may not always be reflected in the Info-pack.
